Knee Positioning Rule

This rule stipulates that when using a stance in which the front leg is bent and weight is pressing forward and over this leg, the front knee should not move forward (appreciably) of the ankle of the same leg. Pushing the knee forward in such a circumstance can put great pressure on the knee joint and could result in substantial ligament damage. In general, the shin should not extend forward of the vertical position when adopting such stances.
