Tensoku Ryu Hanbo Shodan Kata

The Hanbo Shodan Kata demonstrates many common uses for this weapon. Because this weapon is relatively short in length you must remain aware that when blocking with both hands the hand nearest the opponent’s weapon should not grasp the weapon but should instead merely support it from behind in some manner. This hand should also be used to orient the Hanbo so it guides any opponent strikes away from and not into your other hand. This is important when using any weapon, but is especially important when using a weapon as short as a Hanbo.
