Pinan Shodan

This first Pinan Kata focuses a great deal on stances and stance transitions, blocking and striking combinations, and a variety of martial arts fundamentals such as looking in the direction that you will move before you initiate your movement. As with all things in the martial arts, you will be expected to execute these Kata with a higher level of precision than you likely did when performing the earlier Kihonteki Kata.

All Octagon angles in the following descriptions and depictions are global octagon angles.
